I Gotham Independent Film Awards di cui avevamo dato le candidature qualche mese fa, sono premi cinematografici dedicati al cinema indie, ed esistono giá dal 1991. Presentati dall’organizzazione non governativa Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), i premi erano originariamente destinati solo ai film prodotti negli Stati Uniti  in particolare nello stato di New York, per poi ampliarsi nel corso degli anni a tutti gli USA

Secondo Variety “The first awards show of the season takes place in a hybrid ceremony from New York City”.
