Gotham Awards: tutte le candidature

I Gotham Awards sono  la prima tappa della stagione dei premi, dedicata al cinema indipendente.

L’annuncio delle nomination della 30esima edizione dimostra che quest’anno sarà un’edizione storica: per la prima volta tutti i nominati come miglior film sono diretti da donne.

Fra questi The Assistant di Kitty Green, First Cow di Kelly Reichardt, Mai raramente a volte sempre di Eliza Hittman, il Leone d’oro di Venezia, Nomadland di Chloé Zhao, e Relic di Natalie Erika James.

Nomination postuma, nella categoria miglior attore, per Chadwick Boseman in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, cosa che si ripeterà molto probabilmente negli altri premi, fino all’Oscar. Oltre a lui, Riz Ahmed per Sound of Metal, Jude Law per The Nest, John Magaro in First Cow e Jesse Plemons per I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

Inoltre arriva anche un’altra bella notizia per l’Italia. C’è anche Martin Eden nelle nomination dei migliori film indipendenti stranieri. Dopo gli European Film Awards un’altra bella soddisfazione per il film di Pietro Marcello.

Netflix quest’anno ha ottenuto solo quattro nomination: una per Chadwick Boseman, una per Cuties, due per I’m Thinking of Ending Things e una per la serie tv Unorthodox.
